    100% free antivirus, this installer requires you to have an internet connection, as it will download several megabytes to get the program onto your computer. When installing it, be sure to uncheck the box for the yahoo search toolbar.

Anti-Spyware

  • CCleaner (2.91 MB)
    This is a great program for cleaning up the temp files on your computer. (spyware almost always comes in via the temp files first) Be aware that this program will install the Yahoo toolbar. You should uncheck the box durring intalation if you do not want another toolbar in your internet explore.
  • Malware Bytes. (7.38 MB)
    A great anti-malware program. It is free and it remove most bad programs from your computer
  • Spyware Blaster. (3.05 MB)
    A great passive protection program. you should run this once a month, download the latest updates, then enable all protection. Between this and spybot, you have prevented tens of thousands of bad programs from getting into your computer, and you have not slowed down your computer at all. This is a great defense line in your multi-tiered line of defense.
  • Spyware Search and Destroy. (15.65 MB)
    The original and still the best :) If nothing else you should use Spybot to imunize your system mothly. This will greatly reduce the odds on getting infected. (During install you should to uncheck the option for tea-time, or it will question you every few minutes)

Anti-Spam

  • Spam Aware. (14.28 MB)
    SpamAware is a plugin for Ms-Outlook and MS-Outlook Express. It uses SpamAssassin to score new incomming mails and decides based on the settings made in options what to do with the mail. The application is completely functional after installation and gets automatically active on new mails. It supports Black- and Whitelist filtering and is able to automatically add all your Outlook and Outlook Express contacts and add recipients of mails you write to the Whitelist.

Miscellaneous helpful utilities

  • Defragler (2.93 MB)
    A great free defrag program. Use the options to schedule your computer to defragment every night during the overnight to keep your computer running at tip top speed. Note - be sure to remove the check in the bottom checkbox for you yahoo toolbar, or else you will end up with another toolbar in Internet Explorer.
  • Sandboxie (1.45 MB)
    I was hesitant about adding this to the site, it is for advanced users. It will sand-box any program you tell it to. Sand-boxing is a term used by programmers, it separated the running program from the rest of your computer so that when you are done, you empty the sandbox, and undo everything that the program did. Sandboxie is a great way to surf the web on a day to day basis, with setting it to delete the sandbox when you close internet explorer, it will delete all changes, history, and malware that may have been installed.   • Screen Connect Installer (279 KB)
    This is the Screen Connect installer. It will allow The Computer Hero to access your computer anytime it is on the internet with no intervention from you. Only install this if you are directed to do so from The Computer Hero
  • Tree Size Free (1.57 MB)
    a handy program for finding out what is taking up all of that room on your hard drive. Tree Size allows you to look drill down by directory size and see what is using up all of your space.
